Feb.19… hand quilt a long

Sorry…. that I’m a day late. We were not home over the weekend. Leona has had the flu ,and has been rather sick for close to two weeks. I did notice that while her illness seem to be getting better her spirits were low. Leona is a happy child often humming in her off tune way, so this had me concerned. Steve (hubby) and I were sitting in the family room Friday noon as he can in from the office for lunch. I mentioned to him my concerns. He looked at me in a knowing way, then at Leona saying casually that the weather would be perfect for camping. Leona’s face lite up with a hardy grunt of excitement. So that is just what we did. We were on the road in less than two hours heading to our favorite state park! We had a very lovely weekend. The fresh air and enjoyable wheelchair strolls did much for her ,Leona is back to her humming self.πŸ˜€

So now for the update on my projects…..

The double wedding ring quilt was worked on the most . Here I was last update…

Jan 28.. Hand quilt along

I’m so doing the happy dance! πŸ’ƒ I finished the Fire Island Hosta quilt 100″by 100″ that is for my daughter. I wanted to have it done awhile back but I’ve been slow at times in working on it,as it has been a little over a year since I’ve put it in the frame!😳

It is now ready for her to see when she gets back from Puerto Rico! Here it is for you to see today….

This is where I was three weeks ago ,that last Black border to do. Now …

It is even washed ,and is wonderfully quilt soft.

The back fabric up close that really is black in color, I wanted the flora pattern to show more than the black…

Some of the quilting after washing…

I also got the next Fire Island Hosta that’s for my son and his new wife into the frame with a small part of the corner worked on. This will now be included in with my three projects that I’m working on.

Sorry to say that the other projects suffered… so much so that’s nothing to report.

Please check out what the others are doing, wonderful inspiration you will find!

Jan.7.. hand quilt along

I have so enjoyed seeing what everyone has been doing, makes my eyes so happy!

My update on my three projects. The one that got the most attention is the Fire Island hosta

Three weeks ago …

I was working from the bottom of photo to the top quilting the black and red points and the white piece right above it. Now I just have to finish the border and the rest of the red and white point piece.

Maybe by next update I will be able to say finished!🀞

Now the double wedding ring… last update here

Two rings done… today’s update

Over quarter of the way done. I’m founding out why I may have put this top in the bottom of the bag for so long I forgot I started it..the navy fabric wrinkles awful, and it is rather hard to quilt.

The back

And the Cathedral windows …. last here

Now here…

Thanks for dropping by!πŸ˜€

Dec.17…hand quilt along

So what have I got done in three weeks on my three hand work projects…. let’s see.

First the double wedding ring..

The update..

A little done …two rings…

The Fire Island Hosta….

Went from the right corner to the way to the left corner….working on the black spikes now working back to the right corner.

With left corner closer to finished

Happy with how much I got done here. Now on to the Cathedral windows…

I did get several blocks done and some added to the main body of the quilt.

I discovered I really enjoy tucking those old blocks in.

Check out the others following the HQAL.. they are doing lovely ,talented pieces.

April,11th. Fire Island Hosta Queen quilt top is finished

I am really tickled with the way it turned out! Now I need to start thinking how I’m going to hand quilt it. It is a large quilt 100″ by 100″. So it will take me awhile to do this one.

Sorry about the work truck in the way of the quilt, but hubby is at some business meetings and I was trying to do this by myself. I’ll have him help me take some better ones later. But at least you can get a peek.😊

Now I need to go back to the scrappy nosegay top, I have only 5 more to go. Here’s a few blocks laid out.

I’ve been working in the flowerbeds ,weeds have a way of growing way to fast.Wow, I found out that I have some muscles that didn’t like being used again!

 Crabapple tree

Iris with weeds,:(

 Edit

The little lizards are back. With temperatures in the upper 80’s.all little critters are showing themselves.

The only thing with the temps being so warm the azaleas are not going to make a splash like they do some years.

My daughter, who is a fan of this little fella, sent this to me. πŸ˜„

Have a lovely day! Deb

Feb.14, scrappy tied quilts

I have a fondness for a tied or knotted quilt. They aren’t as fancy,or bragged about as a quilted quilt. Β They have a special place that says welcome home ,snuggled up and just be yourself.

image

Even children find them fascinating. This is my grandson enjoying the quilt I gave his Mama. She says he loves it. πŸ™‚

I did get a few more done lately.

second one..

I had a knit fabric that I had gotten from a sewing factory. They were remnants that came in strips of 20 inches. They gave me trash bags full. It is a tough fabric that withhold a lot of wear.I used it on the back of these quilts.

image

and the third I have top finished but not tied.

image

I use yarn or crocheting thread. if the fabric is stretchy or tightly woven a thinner thread pulls through better.

I did have a little time to work on the Fire Island Hosta quilt top. I have the swags pieced and one block put together on it.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
