Aug 22……the meaning of scrap..

Scrap…
A small piece or something left over from use of a greater piece . (Noun)
Discard or remove ( verb)
Words that are similar in uses , fragment, snippet, shred

I have this problem of discarding little pieces of fabric, also accumulating from others their rejects…I so enjoy the colors of a scrappy quilt while the last quilt top I put together was pretty, it isn't a delightful display of colors like the log cabin….

Here are some scrappy knotted quilts that are finished.

I have been having some back issues 😟 ,puts me in a chair for a few days. I don't mind a chair for an hour or two but after awhile I get really disgusted with sitting… so I put my office chair at the table ,got the scraps out that I found, cleaned and ironed, and started cutting these strips into little fan pieces. I need to decide if I want to use the cream fabric or the barn red..

I like both .. although I think the red brings out all the colors of the shirting fabric, where some of the shirting gets lost in the white. What do you think?
The weather wasn't perfect for seeing the eclipse ,as the storm clouds kept getting in the way. I found that it was still beautiful. I needed to always look though the camera on my iPad as I didn't have glasses . Love the reflection of the sun ,moon in this photo.

Take care friends.

I swear by physical therapy for back issues. It got me doing daily exercises that have been great for years. And I keep reading that sitting is about the worst thing for backs. Lying flat might be better, but then you might get even more bored.

Oh yes PT is so good for a bad back!! Sitting is not so good , I did do more of it with ice packs until I could get my back ,back in place. I popped it out when I put Leona in the car for a ride.

Sorry that you have been suffering, Steve still can’t lay flat and he fell nearly 2 weeks ago. Hope you are up and doing again soon πŸ™‚ But you have not wasted your sitting time, I would go for the red, to me it brings the colours out. Love the last photo, its that the moon going in front of the sun πŸ™‚

Get better soon! I have had only one back episode, but it certainly made me rethink a lot of things!! I like the red best, it does give the shirting the necessary contrast. Scraps are my preference when making quilts, even when I buy fabric special, I’m buying fat quarters or layer cakes or something to make it scrappy. πŸ˜„

Be a patient patient, that’s what I learned. When they say no…., no cheating! Yes those lovely sampler packs are always a huge temptation to me….😁

I completely agree about the appeal of scrappy quilts–they have so much more pizazz and meaning. I agree, too, that the red is the better backing for the fans. I’m glad you had some scraps to play with, to relieve your boredom, and hope you’re on the mend!

Pizazz is the perfect word for a scrappy quilt. πŸ™‚ I’m glad too I had some scraps to play with , a healthy activity helps the healing process.
