I received a pile of scraps. Ok, so your thinking what’s new ,that poor dear always has a pile of scraps. And boy are you right!!
Last weekend an older gentleman from our church ,who to keep himself busy, cuts up fabric into 6″, 5″and 4″ that people give him. He does this to support a program that helps poor widows support herself and her family. The widows will receive these blocks with batting and backing, they then will make quilts to sell. To make a long story short… He brought me his scraps to put into quilt tops for Christian aid ministries. Of course.. I can’t say no. Here’s the big bag of scraps, which I dumped into this box.
The type of box… my daughter likes lightening McQueen.. so instead of wearing princess pull ups she wears these😁
I want to go through to sort the big pieces from the little . I made a few blocks like this to see if I cared for them. I believe it will make a nice top.
This is what I’m going to work on this week, the weather is to be hot for awhile now.. time to keep myself in except for early mornings.
I was messing around in my fabric closet, digging down under looking for an old briefcase that I wanted to put my art stuff in to keep it all in one place. I got a surprise…. the old case wasn’t empty. Guess what was in it!! No not a mouse nest!😜 an unfinished double wedding ring top.
There are two rows of four blocks to a row. It is in vintage fabric except for the navy blue . Plus there are lots of little pieces ready to be pieced.
I want to make this into a throw for at the end of a bed, then use the rest of the pieces in this top
I had the life scared out of me Saturday… I went out to do some watering , I have some small oak tree starts that needed a good soak, well.. when I first grabbed the hose to fill up some pails I thought heard a raspy noise .. looked around .. saw nothing ,continued to work ,when all of a sudden Wiggles ,our Jack Russell came unglued!!!! Not more than 3 feet away was a rattler!! Needless to say it’s history. Can’t say I care for a rattlesnake right outside in my front yard.
We had a storm pass through this evening ,the clouds were beautiful!
My goodness you have had wild adventures this week! I like your scrap blocks, you do a great job mixing those colors in a pleasing combination, and the navy double wedding will be amazing, very unique and striking colors there!

I have to laugh that you could just forget you had that much work done on a double wedding ring top–I really like it with the navy! The scraps ought to keep you out of trouble for awhile, and such a good cause. I didn’t know you had rattlesnakes where you live–makes me glad to live in NY!

😀 I sure did though! I’m surprised that you wouldn’t have rattlers.. I kinda of thought they were all over the USA. Guess you can count your blessing there then. Can you believe rattlers aren’t on top of my hate list… cottonmouths and copperheads come first ..their nastiest as they are more aggressive with so warning!

I will be busy.. but enjoy that kind of busy! Glad so the snake didn’t get Wiggles but she lives up to her name and her breed ,moves ,jumps around that snake with unbelievable quickness.

What a wonderful find, somehow I don’t think I would find that……I just find loads of photos that I have forgot to post lol. You are going to be busy, I must admit our weather today was a little hot to be out in, but nowhere near as hot as yours :). I’m not going to dwell on the Rattler…..it scared me enough dead, let alone rattling, but the cloud photo is lovely 🙂

😁 oh it’s not to surprising that I forgot.. I have a wonderful forgetter. Lol Georgia is not a nice place to visit in July or August unless your are going to the ocean, or do water activities. Well, at least the rattler is polite enough to rattle… some of the other kinds aren’t so polite like cottonmouths. Do you have any poisonous snake over there?

Yes we do have a poisonous snake, a small one called a Adder, its our only poisonous one, it has a v on it head. The problem is that we have a slow worm, a large worm, very snake like in appearance, that does look like an Adder, but not with the v on its head, but it does get killed because people panic and think its an Adder, but its quite harmless.
We had a bad storm last night, as its just so hot here, not use to it, but a lightening strike hit somewhere so close, we thought it had hit the house, poor nancy jumped so high she nearly hit the ceiling, me along with her. Then we just had it for the next four hours, so not a lot of sleep, as the rain was so noisy….its just so humid, its horrible. I shall have to look up cottonmouth….looked it up, that does not sound nice at all 😦

I’d probably be one to kill the worm too, then look at it later! Yes,those lightening strike cracks can scare you out of your skin. Hope your heat wave soon lets up. We have air conditioning in our home …. makes summer much easier to handle.

Yes I think if our summers were like this all the time, its something we would do, we have it in one of the conservatories, which we use as a dining room. When the dogs get too hot, we turn it on cold full blast and put them in there to cool down, they love it lol 🙂

Lots of variety in this post on using your skills for charity. Amazing clouds, but so scary about the rattler.

Thank you! I’m sure you’ll find more clouds photos in another post somewhere along the way as I love watching clouds. Wished he’d of stayed in the woods, don’t like to kill things but I have children around my house that it didn’t need to get a hold of.!!

Whew, thank goodness that your dog warned you that the rattlesnake was there. I really like double wedding ring pattern. It’s a perfect way to use small pieces.
