Life this week has been very VERY busy ,as my daughter and her family were with us for almost a week. They are from Virginia , so we don’t get to enjoy having them around as often as the other married children. Lynn was here to help me fix my dress pattern that I want to use for Russell’s wedding. This photo is special for it is so far our only granddaughter, and she loves her PopPop . He is her hero!!😄
PopPop had a little follower a lot this week, she even informed him ” PopPop, I follow you”,
Have a wonderful week, Deb
Oh yes ,the feature photo …. the two grandchildren kept me in flowers all week.😍
It was a truly beautiful day here, with temperatures in the low 80’s with a soft breeze. I went on my normal Sunday walk, please come along and enjoy this down in the boondocks country.
Cows grazing and some of the mamas bellowing at their young for wondering to far, then a little mooing could be heard.
Country road that run in front of our farm
Farm lane also used by the deer ,which we have a plenty,
Rustic old fences and old hay ring
From woods to a field of corn
From berries on a cedar tree to the first yellow rose of spring..
To the amaryllis blooming to remind me of my Pop who gave me a bulb the last Christmas he was living. Now I have many bulbs in the flowerbed.
You would be most welcome to come in for a cold glass of sweet tea!!
Have a lovely week,Deb
I do this to myself every year … I don’t do a lot of stretching or bending through the winter months then come spring after a few days of digging ,hoeing and pulling weeds, I walk around like an old lady ,and popping painkillers before bedtime.😟 oh well ..the flowers will be worth it.
I didn’t do much sewing this week as the weather has been so lovely ,it is also high time I tackle the weeds . The flowers really took a set back when we had the killing frost a few weeks back, some will not bloom for the buds were frozen. The plants didn’t die so that is good. Here is peek into my little world..
Kiwi starting to grow
Lovely field of weeds ,our field so less.
Jenny ,our coyote chaser, a lot of farms have donkeys in the pastures for they will keep the coyotes out .
The sun was setting at one end of the house and the moon was rising on the other end
And now for the turtle ….my grand children found this little box turtle . It’s shell was still soft ,so it was newly hatched.
It is starting to eat for the children. They informed me his name is “Bert” and if they find out later on it’s a girl then his name will be changed to “Gert”. 😀 Bert is now a family member.
Have a lovely week, friends.
Dr Wayne Stiles has a beautiful video on the passion week.
Here is the link to watch part one…
I hope you enjoy it ,I did.
Strawberries are in full swing here, and my counter is full of bowls with berries. The kitchen smells so good with the smell of cake and strawberries.
I will put some in the freezer for milkshakes and homemade ice cream when the weather is hot and we are looking for a cool supper. For the shortcake I use an old recipe that is a plain vanilla cake. Here’s the recipe..
If you wish to try the coconut icing that is wonderful tasting as well.
Now for the update.. I didn’t get as far on the Double Wedding Ring quilt top as I would have like but there is still a little progress. I was able to get more rings sewn.. and started sewing the rings together.
It is hard to match the rings at the seams evenly, some are off a little bit . I was able to get one row done which has 9 complete ring sections, and started on row two. There will be 72 sections when top is completed. That means I have 61 more to go.
Here you can see how row two is joined on.
Have a lovely week! Deb
